Entity Management in Impero: Scalable governance across multiple entities

Today, we’re introducing Entity Management in Impero – a new organizational layer designed to help companies scale governance across multiple entities without duplicating controls or compromising accountability.

What is Entity Management?

Entity Management introduces a new way to structure and manage governance within Impero.

It enables organizations to operate a single centralized framework across multiple entities – while allowing local teams to manage assignments, follow-ups, and control execution independently.  

The result is a more scalable governance model that creates:

• Clear accountability across entities  
• Granular user access
• Stronger data separation  
• Local operational ownership within a centrally governed framework  

Why this matters

Most Impero environments are already structured around entities – typically a parent or group-level organization with multiple subsidiaries underneath. Previously, tag management was used to label entities.

But as organizations scale, maintaining governance consistency becomes increasingly challenging and managing who has access to change global or local control programs becomes more important.  

Traditionally, many organizations have had to choose between:

• Tight centralized control with limited local flexibility
• Or decentralized ownership with inconsistent governance structures

At the same time, manual assignment management and broad “all-or-nothing” access permissions create operational friction across large organizations.

Entity Management is designed to solve this challenge.

What you can do with Entity Management

By introducing a dedicated organizational layer inside Impero, companies can now scale governance structures more efficiently while still empowering local teams with the ownership they need.  

Entity Management introduces several new capabilities designed to support scalable governance models.

• Operate global/group-level frameworks across multiple entities: Avoid duplicating controls across subsidiaries, regions, or departments by managing a global or group-level frameworks centrally yet still allowing for local ownership where needed.  
• Enable granular user access: Provide users with access only to the entities, controls, and workflows relevant to them – creating stronger separation and clearer ownership.  
• Delegate operational ownership locally: Local entities can manage assignments, follow-ups, and execution independently while central governance teams maintain oversight.  
• Simplify assignment management: Assignment to an entity can automatically populate control assignments, reducing manual administration and improving consistency across large organizations.
• Improve scalability as your organization grows: Entity Management is built to support organizations operating across multiple business units, countries, subsidiaries, or regions – making governance easier to scale over time.

What’s available in the Entities module today

The current release of Entity Management introduces several foundational capabilities, including:

• Attaching entities directly to control programs  
• Entity-specific assignment management  
• Define user access on an entity-level
• Data segregation based on entity access
• Entity-scoped datasheets

This allows organizations to manage governance structures with significantly more flexibility than before.

A phased rollout designed for ongoing adoption  

Entity Management is being rolled out in phases to support gradual adoption and continuous improvement.
